FABIÁN CHUTO MISHQUI

Fabián Chuto Mishqui, father of five children, lives in Riobamba. He was born on June 5, 1979, in the community of Guarguallá, Cebadas parish, Guamote canton.

The community where he was born is very small, with only 25 heads of household. It is located on the borders of Parque Nacional Sangay at an altitude of 3,600 meters above sea level.

Volcán Sangay was the main inspiration that led him to become a mountain guide.

At the age of 15, he began working as a mule porter on seven-day expeditions to Sangay Volcano, assisting tourists from many countries who came for the expedition. He worked as a porter for four years and started climbing the volcano himself, fascinated by its eruptions.

At 19, he climbed Volcán Chimborazo for the first time—the highest volcano in Ecuador at 6,310 meters above sea level—which was another personal challenge he had set for himself. From then on, he developed a deep passion for mountains and nature. He worked as a native community guide and later as a naturalist guide recognized by Ecuador’s Ministry of Tourism, helping organize tourism groups for different expeditions such as trekking, biking, climbing, and camping with many tour operators in Ecuador.

All these experiences motivated him to establish his own tour operator, “AVENTURAS DE MONTAÑA PAFAJA” Cía. Ltda.

Currently, he has completed professional training as a Specialized Guide in Adventure Tourism and High Mountain, certified by ASEGUIM (Association of Mountain Guides of Ecuador).
